Yams
About Yams
Yams are starchy root vegetables with rough, brown skin and orange or purple flesh. They are grown in tropical and subtropical regions.
Yams are a good source of complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, vitamins C and B6, and potassium. They are a nutritious carbohydrate source. Yams are generally safe to eat when cooked. However, they are different from sweet potatoes and should not be confused with them.
Yams can be roasted, boiled, mashed, or used in various dishes like casseroles and pies. They are often enjoyed as a side dish.
