Elderberries

About Elderberries

Elderberries are small, dark purple-black berries that grow on the elder tree. Elderberries are harvested and can be consumed fresh or used to make jams, syrups, or supplements.

Elderberries are rich in antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins. They are often used for their potential immune-boosting properties and may help reduce the duration of cold and flu symptoms.

While elderberries are generally safe ( please be mindful of your results as these may indicate you should not consume them due to a sensitivity), consuming them raw or uncooked is not recommended due to the presence of compounds that can cause nausea and digestive discomfort. Cooking or processing elderberries eliminates these concerns.
