General Questions
Why can I eat egg yolk, but not egg white?
Egg Yolk vs Egg White
Egg yolks and egg whites have different molecular compositions which may cause them to be tolerated by your body differently.
Egg whites are low in calories and in fat and high in protein. Egg whites are considered a complete protein which means that it contains all nine essential amino acids. However, egg whites are not a good source of vitamins and nutrients.
Egg yolks are high in fat. That being said, much of this comes from healthy fats such as omega-3 fatty acids which your body is unable to make and must rely on from our diets or supplementation. Egg yolks are also a source of essential nutrients which are important your health and wellness.
If you are sensitive to one part of the egg and not the other, you should refrain from consuming whole eggs during your Elimination Diet Plan and only consume the part of the egg that is beneficial to you based on your results.
